Nampa – June 28 – Summer is here, which means it’s time to get out and discover the great things happening at your local parks and recreation center. This July, explore the “undiscovered” roles of local parks and recreation with Nampa Parks & Recreation as they celebrate Park and Recreation Month, A Lifetime of Discovery. A variety of fun activities are planned for residents of all ages and abilities - including free movies in the park, walking groups on city pathways, fun at the outdoor pools, traveling playground and more.
Nampa Parks & Recreation is celebrating Park and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), by inviting you to explore A Lifetime of Discovery at your local parks and rec. Playgrounds, rec center, sports leagues, summer camps are just a few of the things that come to mind when we think of parks and rec; however, parks and recreation is so much more than that. During Park and Recreation Month, discover all the ways parks and recreation can improve quality of life, like science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programming; senior programs; health and wellness opportunities and community celebrations. From providing us places to play, get fit and stay healthy to fostering new relationships and forging a connection with nature, our close-to-home community park and recreation facilities provide essential services and improve quality of life.
Nampa Parks & Recreation Director, Darrin Johnson stated, “Good things happen when people and parks come together. Our parks and recreation facilities are a place where people can gather and participate in wholesome activities and have fun. We strive to provide amenities that will encourage people to get active, create community, and make Nampa a great place to live.”Nampa Parks & Recreation will celebrate Park and Recreation Month with our Discovery Map. Kids and adults are invited to come discover lots of fun ways to get active with Nampa Parks and Rec! Pick up a Discovery Map at the Nampa Rec Center, Lakeview Water Park or Lincoln Pool and participate in the free or low-cost activities such as exploring a pathway, learn a new skill, try fitness in the park, watch a movie in the park, and lots more! Everyone who completes the map wins a prize, kids and adults! In addition, completed passports will be entered to win additional prizes such as an outdoor pool pass or a free session of swim lessons. This is a great opportunity for families to discover some of the fun Nampa Parks & Recreation has to offer!
